Aziz began his study of Oriental Dance in the early 1970’s , learning from legendary instructors like Bert Balladine and Jamila Salimpour. Said Balladine, “Aziz was special in that he was so serious about his dance and portrayed his own mystical and mesmerizing style.”
Aziz also studied with Cassandra of Minneapolis and recognizes her as one of his main mentors. His costuming of Assuit garb and ancient coins are reminiscent of Ultra Early Tribal Style, called “ethnic dance” at the time. His instruction truly bridges the divide of Oriental Style and American Tribal Style dance.
