Magdalena Christina discovered bellydance while exploring movement for a theatrical production at University of Nebraska at Omaha. She initially studied under Della Gushen and performed briefly with Lotus Dancers. Magdalena began teaching in 2000 and, pulling from her student pool, formed the Diva Soma Belly Dance troupe. With her “divas” she produced several installments of Nebraska Bellydance Spectacular, a showcase of the state’s varied and talented dance community.
In Summer 2009, Magdalena studied with Ashiya Ali in Lincoln and danced in performances with Athenian Dancers. Currently, she still enjoys dancing with Ashiya as a house dancer at The Parthenon Greek Grill in Lincoln, NE. Magdalena teaches a weekly class in Omaha in the Vintage American “Cabaret” stylization of Arabic dance.
